Apple on Wednesday 12 Sep 2018 unveiled its latest flagship iPhone series. The new series includes three new variants called the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and the cheaper iPhone XR. as like its name the iPhone XS Max comes with the largest display among there. Apple new triplet support dual-SIM and dual standby, though this is implemented with an eSIM in place of the second SIM for most of the world, while China gets support for two physical SIMs in the iPhone XS Max. The company also announced the next generation of its wearable, the Apple Watch Series 4 in the same event.

The iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR runs on iOS 12. The iPhone XS sports a 5.8-inch OLED Super Retina (1125×2234 pixels) display with the same notch as the one seen on 2017’s iPhone X. The iPhone XS Max built with a large 6.5-inch OLED Super Retina (1242×2688 pixel) display with a similar display notch. The last one iPhone XR comes with 6.1-inch (828×1792 pixels) LCD Retina display. The trio series are powered by Apple’s latest A12 Bionic SoC, which is touted to be one of the first with a 7nm processor that delivers a 30 percent faster app launch time.
This gives the new iPhone 30 minutes and 1 hour 30 minutes more battery life compared to the iPhone X.

The Apple iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max inbuilt storage include 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB while the iPhone XR comes with 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage options. The first two variants of these phones sport surgical-grade stainless steel body with glass casing on both sides but the cheaper model has a 7000-series aerospace-grade aluminium build.

The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max feature dual cameras set up at the back. The phones have a 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor (f/1.8 aperture) and another 12-megapixel telephoto secondary sensor (f/2.4). The rear camera gets a 6-element lens and 2x optical zoom. There is also an improved TrueTone quad-LED flash at the back. On the front, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max get a 7-megapixel RGB camera sensor that’s said to be faster, and features an f/2.2 aperture.

The iPhone XR has a single camera sensor at the back that comes in 12-megapixel resolution and has a six-piece lens on top along with an f/1.8 aperture. The rear camera is coupled with a quad-LED True Tone flash, coupled with an advanced flicker-detect system, and includes optical image stabilisation (OIS) and Focus Pixels. The front camera is 7-megapixel that supports an improved Portrait mode and comes with an f/2.2 aperture, IR camera as well as a dot projector that includes a structured light transmitter, micro-projection lens, and a diffractive beam splitter. Apple has offered a Smart HDR feature that is designed to enhance results – without any edits. For the selfies, there is an Advanced Bokeh Depth Control feature that bolsters the Bokeh effect.

The Apple iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max models come with water and dust resistance rated IP68 and the iPhone XR rated with IP67. All smartphones also feature glass back panel and support wireless charging.

All of the three variants now come with improved Face ID, which allows users to unlock their handsets by just looking at it. Face ID uses infrared and dot projector technology, coupled with proprietary hardware and algorithm to make it one of the most secure mechanisms in the market.

The iPhone XS comes with a price tag of $999 (roughly Rs. 71,800) for the 64GB variant, $1,149 (roughly Rs. 82,600) for the 256GB variant, and $1,349 (roughly Rs. 97,000) for 512GB. The iPhone XS Max has a starting price of $1,099 (roughly Rs. 79,000) for the 64GB variant, $1,249 (roughly Rs. 89,800) for the 256GB variant, and $1,449 (1,04,200) for the 512GB variant. The iPhone XR 64GB variant has been priced at $749 (roughly Rs. 53,900), the 128GB variant has been priced at $799 (roughly Rs. 57,500), and the 256GB variant has been priced at $899 (roughly Rs. 64,700).

The iPhone XS price in India starts at Rs. 99,900, while the iPhone XS Max price in India starts at Rs. 1,09,900. The iPhone XR price in India starts at Rs. 76,900 for the 64GB storage variant.
