mAadhaar app: Nowadays Aadhaar card is going to be mandatory in many Government schemes as well as main identity proof. So it is always beneficial to carry your Aadhaar card every time where-ever you go. For this, the UIDAI launched a new app called mAadhaar or ‘mobile Aadhaar’ which enables the user to carry their Aadhaar card in his mobile. This mAadhaar, reduce the needs to carry the hard copy of their Aadhaar.
mAadhaar app allows Aadhaar holders to carry their information on their smartphone. To use this new mAadhaar app, users need to have their phone number registered with UIDAI. For now, this is Beta version means new bug fixes and new updates will come as per development and requirement.
The mAadhaar app has been launched only for Android users as of now but might be released for iOS soon as well. It is already available for download on Google Play.
The user can download their details on the app after the installation of the app on the same mobile number device which number is mention in Aadhaar. The mAadhaar app will show data like the name, date of birth, gender, address and the photograph on the mobile device.
The UIDAI mAadhaar app also allows users to lock or unlock their biometrics data. To use this feature the holder must enable Biometric Locking system, After enabling it, their biometric remains locked till the Aadhaar Holder chose to either Unlock it (which is temporary) or Disable the Locking system. The mAadhaar app also comes with “Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP)” feature that can be used instead of SMS-based OTP.
The mAadhaar app will automatically show the updated profile and user will also able to share QR code and password protected eKYC data to retrieve accurate demographic information from it instead of manual entry.
The app is currently in beta version means some of the features will be made available post future updates.
