Preeti Jain sentenced to 3-year jail for plotting to kill Madhur Bhandarkar by the city civil and sessions court. Along with three years jail, she also fined Rs. 10,000.

Naresh Pardeshi and Shivram Das also convicted on the same charge means for plotting to murder film-maker Madhur Bhandarkar, against whom Preeti Jain had earlier registered a rape case. Both Preeti Jain associates also sentenced to three years jail.

But just after conviction they all granted bail on cash surety of Rs. 15,000. They have been given four weeks to file an appeal in the Bombay high court.

Madhur Bhandarkar tweets after this verdict: “Some things are better left unsaid! Some things are better left as they are. Life moves on, so have I.”

According to a Hindustan Times report, Jain had filed a police complaint in Versova against the director, accusing him of raping her 16 times.

Jain allegedly paid Rs. 75,000 to the underworld gangster for eliminating Bhandarkar in 2005, almost a year after she filed a rape case against the filmmaker. Preeti Jain asked her money back from ganster because the given job was not done by him.

After that, the police registered a case on September 10, 2005. Underworld gangster Pardesi was arrested the same day.

In 2012, the rape case against the filmmaker Bhandarkar was cancelled by a court after Preeti Jain told the court that she was dropping the charge.
